THE VARIABLE PROMOTES LEWIS AND DUNCAN TO SENIOR LEADERSHIP TEAM
The Variable, an award-winning innovation and advertising agency based in Winston-Salem, has announced the promotion of Courtney Lewis to Director of Growth and Jane Duncan to Director of Business Leadership. As the newest members of the agency’s senior leadership team, Lewis and Duncan will serve key roles in guiding The Variable in its mission to help clients fight indifference and drive long-term business success.
Lewis takes on the newly-created Director of Growth role having spent the past three years as a Group Business Director at The Variable, where she managed globally-recognized brands, including Electrolux, Frigidaire and Purpose Financial. As the Director of Growth, she will leverage her expertise and experiences – which includes tenures at consulting firm Deloitte Digital and data analytics company Inmar Intelligence – to help The Variable grow through new brand partnerships, strategic expansion of capabilities and the development of new models that create value for clients.
Duncan is elevated to Director of Business Leadership after previously serving as a Group Business Director at The Variable since joining the agency two years ago. Duncan has led strategic and creative client relationships across B2C and B2B categories during her 15-year career, including Visit NC, BASF, the PGA and Revel Technologies. In her new role, Duncan will lead The Variable’s business leadership team to continue developing deep relationships, trust and business-driving work across its roster of clients.
“From their first days at The Variable, it was clear that Courtney and Jane were positive forces that would have significant positive impacts on our clients and on our business,” said David Mullen, president and partner at The Variable. “Late last year, as we worked through our strategic plans for our next five years, we knew we needed to create a few new roles that would be critical to our ability to achieve our goals. And, almost immediately after that, we knew the perfect candidates were already on the team. We’re so excited for Courtney and Jane to officially join the senior leadership team. They’ve been leaders since day one.”
The promotions of Lewis and Duncan come on the heels of The Variable’s 10th anniversary in 2021 and the agency’s most successful year to date.
“Helping drive growth for our clients has resulted in pretty tremendous growth for our own business,” said Mullen. “We’re most proud of our growth because it means we get to provide amazing opportunities for our current team to stretch and grow, too. We get to keep impressively talented people on the team because they can grow without needing to go somewhere else. Jane and Courtney are two shining examples of that. It’s great for them. And that’s great for us.”
Through a unique business model that combines an advertising agency that drives growth for today with an innovation consultancy that designs growth for tomorrow, The Variable has earned recognition and accolades that include being named a three-time Ad Age Small Agency of the Year; a Fast Company Best Workplaces for Innovators in each of the past two years; an America’s Best Startup Employers by Forbes; and most recently, Adweek’s Fastest Growing Agencies list in 2021.
